Deschutes County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Mar. 24.
On 03-23-22 at about 12:41 PM, a Special Services Deputy with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to an injured mountain bike rider on Kent's Trail, near Phil's Trailhead, west of Bend. The Deputy sent out a page for Search and Rescue volunteers to respond to the rescue. A U.S. Forest Service Officer also responded to the location to assist.
An off duty medic came upon the injured rider quickly and communicated with the deputy regarding the rider's injury status. The injured rider was a 52 year old female from Reno, Nevada. The rider had suffered a broken arm and needed assistance to get out to the parking area at Phil's Trailhead.
The Search and Rescue volunteers responded to the rider's location with a wheeled litter. They reached the patient's location at about 1:47 PM. Upon arrival, members of the SAR medical team assessed the rider's condition and secured her broken arm, so that she could be more comfortably transported with the wheeled litter. The rider was loaded into the litter and carried about two miles back to the parking area, where Bend Fire and Rescue was on scene awaiting the patient's arrival. Ultimately, the patient decided to ride in her personal vehicle to the hospital, instead of being transported by ambulance.
