HOOD RIVER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Gresham Man Arrested Following Home Invasion Burglaries

Arrested

Hood River County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on May 17.

On May 10, 2022, at about 1:40 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1200 block of Tucker Rd. on the report of a burglary that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, an 89-year-old female resident at the location reported that a male subject had threatened her with a weapon and forced his way into her residence.  Once inside, the man bound the woman to a chair while burglarizing her residence.  The suspect left the woman bound and went to an adjacent unoccupied residence, forcibly entering and burglarizing it.  After the suspect left the area, the victim was able to free herself.

Deputies were able to identify a suspect in the case as Kevin Alexander McCallum, 51 years old, of Gresham.  On Thursday, with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Service, McCallum was taken into custody in Gresham without incident.  He was transported to NORCOR, where he was lodged on charges of Kidnapping in the first degree, two counts of Burglary in the first degree, Coercion, and Menacing.

Also assisting on the case were detectives from the Mid-Columbia Major Crimes Team.  The team consists of law enforcement personnel from the Skamania, Klickitat, Sherman, Wasco, and Hood River County Sheriffs’ Offices, The Dalles, Hood River, Bingen-White Salmon, and Goldendale Police Departments, and the Oregon State Police.
