Runners 1438373 639x239

Bend Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 16.

Cascade Relays has an exciting event coming up—the Bend Beer Chase. The Beer Chase will be hosted on Saturday, June 4, 2022. This one-day, six-person running relay encompasses a beautiful 55-mile course route while sampling the amazing craft breweries of Central Oregon. Seeking motivation to dust off your running shoes? Need a reason to wear a costume and party with friends? How about a great excuse to sample craft beer from Central Oregon’s best breweries? The Bend Beer Chase has you covered.

Along the entire course, local breweries host exchange points where participants will sample their craft. Still thirsty? Our lively finish line celebration boasts 20+ beers on tap, a variety of tasty food carts and live music to keep the party going.

Central Oregon is the perfect place to enjoy a weekend of running and beer tasting. The Bend Beer Chase has been a time-honored tradition in Central Oregon since 2014. With a team of six runners, each runner can expect to run approximately 8-9 miles total, split between two legs.  Registration is open now! Find more information on the Bend Beer Chase website at www.bendbeerchase.com.

The Bend Beer Chase will showcase the best breweries of Central Oregon, plus Crater Lake Spirits. Once a team has completed the relay, all runners on the team will complete the “Keg Leg” together. The Keg Leg, which also allows individuals to register and complete the Keg Leg only, involves 6-7 brewery visits and allows your team to run/walk the 2-mile route through downtown Bend at your own pace. Of course, more breweries will be providing runners samples of their craft along with games and prizes at their location. You don’t want to miss this!

One-day relays are growing in popularity among the running community, and for good reason. Relays provide runners the chance to be part of a team, as opposed to most running events, which are solo efforts. One-day relays require less of a logistical or time commitment compared to the classic overnight relay like Cascade Lakes Relay, which spans two full days.  The Bend Beer Chase is the first of its kind and the best one-day relay being offered in the Central Oregon area. To put it simply, run for a few hours, sample some great local craft beers, and party with your friends.
