DUII Driver Arrested After Head on Crash

On August 5, 2022 at approximately 9:00 PM the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported head on crash on Tumalo Road near Cline Falls Highway.

Upon arrival deputies and citizens assisted the 17 year old driver of the Dodge Dart until Bend Fire and Rescue arrived and transported her to St. Charles in Bend with serious injuries. Jose Ibarra was also transported to St. Charles in Bend with minor injuries.

Members of the DCSO crash reconstruction team responded to assist with the investigation. Based on evidence found on scene and witness statements, it was determined Ibarra was driving east on Tumalo Rd and the 17 year old female was driving west when Ibarra crossed into the westbound lane of travel colliding head on with her vehicle.  The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while this investigation was taking place. 

Based on the investigation Ibarra was arrested and after being released from St. Charles was transported to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Jail on the above mentioned charges. 

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community members who assisted on the scene as well as the Oregon State Police, Bend Fire and Rescue, and the Deschutes County Road Department.
