Bookstore Burglars Arrested in Sisters

Arrested: Hendrix Reed Pursell, 21-year-old male, Bend Oregon

Charges: ORS 164.215- Burglary in the Second Degree, ORS 164.365- Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, ORS 164.235- Possession of a Burglary Tool or Theft Device

Narrative:

On 01/17/23, at approximately 6:15 pm deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a Burglary in progress at the Lonesome Water Bookstore in Sisters.

A passing motorist advised Deschutes County 911 that a subject wearing a black ski mask was attempting to break into a bookstore. As deputies responded to the area, Deschutes County 911 were advised the subject wearing the ski mask had gained entry to the store.

When law enforcement arrived, the subject wearing the ski mask exited the store and was armed with a hatchet. A Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputy assisted by the Black Butte Ranch Police Department contacted the subject and ultimately took him into custody without incident.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Oregon State Police, Black Butte Ranch Police Department, and the Redmond Police Department.
