Health officials recommend getting the flu vaccine to prevent the spread of illness in Jefferson County. The flu is more than just an inconvenience; it can be deadly. People age 65 years or older, children, pregnant women, and those with weak immune systems or chronic medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness, complications and death.
Getting vaccinated is the most effective way to prevent the flu. Every one six months and older should be vaccinated every year to prevent illness in themselves and others.
