Early Morning Crash in Madras

At approximately 4:26 a.m. this morning, Madras Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of 4th and Pine Streets. Upon arrival, police discovered an SUV had crashed through the concrete retaining barrier of the Willow Creek bridge landing upside down in the creek bed below. One adult female was rescued from the vehicle and transported by Jefferson County Fire and EMS to St. Charles Hospital in Madras for evaluation. Jefferson County Fire personnel were also dispatched to extinguish a brush fire that resulted due to the crash. It was determined that the driver had been traveling southbound on 4th Street when she left the roadway and crashed through the retaining wall. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing. ODOT currently has one lane of traffic closed at the scene to ensure the safety of the investigating team and to evaluate the damage to the bridge. Please slow down and take extra precautions while driving through this busy intersection.

Madras PD reminds everyone NEVER get behind the wheel when under the influence of any intoxicant.
