Teens Injured in DUII Crash

Driver: 16 year old male, La Pine 

Passenger: 15 year old male, La Pine

Passenger: 14 year old male, La Pine

Vehicle: 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Location: Huntington Road and Memorial Lane, La Pine

On November 3, 2022 at approximately 10:24 PM the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Huntington Road and Memorial Lane in La Pine for a reported single vehicle roll over crash. 

Deputies determined the vehicle was travelling north on Huntington Road when the driver crossed over the fog line. The driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to cross both lanes of travel. Upon leaving the roadway, the vehicle rolled breaking a tree in half and eventually coming to rest against another tree. The 15 year old passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. 

During the investigation it was determined the 16 year old driver was driving under the influence of intoxicants and had also taken the vehicle without permission. 

The driver and the 15 year old passenger were transported by ambulance to St. Charles in Bend with non-life threatening injuries. The 14 year old passenger was transported to St. Charles by private vehicle for evaluation. 

After the driver was released from the hospital, he was transported to the Deschutes County Juvenile Detention Center where he was lodged on the following charges: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering (two counts) and Assault II.
